Just another Isekai Lover~

Chapter 211: The New Chapter Begins

On the afternoon of the eighth day since leaving Meraja, the party led by Isamu finally returned to Klaufendam.

“Lady Annemarie! Welcome back!”

“Lord Matsumoto, thank you for your hard work!”

“Orihime-chan! Look this way!”

“Ahhh! Lord Felix!!”

“Mizeroi, great job!”

As they passed through the gates, the surrounding area erupted in a cacophony of cheers. The residents of Klaufendam, informed of their return the previous day when a fast courier was sent from the neighboring Yansen Viscounty, gathered to greet them.

“Wow, this is overwhelming!”

“Indeed, but everyone’s smiles are such a relief.”

As they progressed slowly down the main street, waving at the crowd, they marveled at the sheer number of people who had come out to welcome them. It felt like nearly every resident was there. After about thirty minutes of this jubilant procession, they finally arrived at the lord’s manor.

Awaiting them were the lord and lady of Klaufendam, Selfars and Nicolette, along with the entire household staff.

“Welcome back, Isamu, Anne, Julius. I’m just glad you’re all safe.”

“Welcome home, Isamu, Anne, Julius, and Orihime-chan. You all look well.”

“Welcome back!”

After the warm greetings, the party replied respectfully:

“Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, we have returned.”

“Father, Mother, we’re back.”

“Father, Mother, I’ve returned!”

“Nyaa~!”

Once the formalities were over, Isamu turned to face Team Orihime, who had fought alongside him on this journey.

“Everyone, thank you for your hard work. Thanks to you, we’ve returned home without losing a single member. I’m truly grateful.”

He bowed deeply before continuing.

“We’ll save detailed reports and discussions for tomorrow. As of now, I officially declare the end of Team Orihime’s operation against Zun. Please rest well.”

“Yes, sir!”

The members responded in unison before dispersing to their respective quarters, leaving only Anne, Julius, and Orihime behind.

Selfars  addressed the remaining group apologetically:

“I’d like everyone to rest, but I do need an initial report.”

“It’s fine; we’ll come by as soon as we’ve changed,” Isamu replied with a reassuring smile.

After freshening up, the group reconvened in the manor’s lounge to discuss recent events.

“So, you successfully defended Meraja. But Lord Felker himself joining the battle? That’s surprising,”

Selfars remarked.

“Indeed. Not just his participation but also his willingness to relinquish his authority to me because he believed my skills would be useful—it was shocking,”

Isamu admitted.

The conversation shifted to Samuel’s actions.

“He even paid an exorbitant penalty fee… Truly remarkable. And Lord Felker didn’t return with you?”

Nicolette inquired.

“No, he continued southward toward Kapolfi.”

“To support Nazario and Lubinda, I assume.”

“Yes. Considering the importance of reinforcements from both border margraves, he likely moved to secure the southern route.”

Selfars nodded.

“In the north, the anti-royal faction, led by the Duke Yarderud, dominates. While outright betrayal during a national military campaign is unlikely, their efforts will probably be half-hearted at best. Strengthening the southern forces is a wise move.”

On their return journey, the group encountered troops from Count Bisseling of the northern territories.

Isamu shared his thoughts.

“Given the distance, the formal mobilization order arrived surprisingly quickly.”

Selfars  clarified.

“A message sent by special courier a week ago. Likely another hawk from Kapolfi.”

“From Kapolfi… Was it from the Zambrotta Chamber of Commerce?”

“No, this time, it was an official report from the border margraves. Unlike the last time, when internal aristocratic factions suppressed the information, the king made the decision to dispatch troops immediately.”

Isamu sighed in relief, thankful that the mission had not been undermined like before.

“Ah, I see. Speaking of which, is it okay for us not to dispatch any troops?”

“We’ve already informed His Majesty, discreetly, that Isamu is stationed at the front lines,”

Selfars  explained, adding that they were exempted due to the ongoing recovery efforts from the magic giant golem’s attack.

“So, what’s your plan from here on out?”

“For the time being, I’m planning to stay secluded and focus on researching and prototyping new magic tools. We’ve acquired several intriguing magic items, starting with the magic giant golem.”

“Sounds good to me. Honestly, I didn’t want you going back out there anyway,”

Selfars  said with a deeply relieved expression after hearing Isamu’s answer. Nicolette, sitting beside him, nodded in agreement, her face mirroring his.

He chose not to mention that their faction leaders had firmly warned him to stop Isamu if he ever brought up returning to the front lines.

“First, starting tomorrow, I’ll research the magic circle we found on the magic giant golem.”

“Got it. Let me know if there’s anything you need.”

“Ahaha, thank you!”

“Alright then, let’s call it a day. Everyone, great work. Get some rest.”

“Yes, good night.”

“Father, Mother, please excuse me.”

“Father, Mother, good night!”

“Nyahff.”

“Yes, good night.”

With this, their meeting concluded, and Isamu and the others were finally able to enjoy a well-deserved rest.

“Eto-san! Could you help me with that arm over there?”

The day after returning from Plazzo.

Isamu’s lively voice echoed in the research lab, his energy fully restored.

“Arm? Oh, you mean the one we brought back from the ruins in the rocky desert?”

Eto, who had been studying a magic circle, looked up and pointed to a large arm part propped against the wall.

“Yes, that’s the one!”

“Hold on a sec. Hey, Mizeroi! Stop playing with Orihime and come help me carry this thing.”

“Ah, brilliant as always, Sensei! Ah, right, the arm, yes? I’ll get to it.”

Mizeroi, who had been playing with a mouse-shaped toy that Eto made for Orihime, responded to the call.

“Here we go. Is this table okay?”

“Yes, thank you, Mizeroi. Please place it there.”

Following Isamu’s instructions, Mizeroi and Eto placed the arm part with a *thud* onto the workbench.

It was a piece believed to belong to a magic giant golem, retrieved from what seemed to be an armory in the rocky desert ruins. The weapon-like part that had been attached when discovered had already been removed.

While they had conducted a preliminary inspection, a thorough investigation had yet to be carried out.

“Hmm, as I thought, the magic circles are quite similar.”

Isamu muttered as he compared the magic circle on the arm to a sketch of one noted on the first-generation Avalushi, the machine piloted by the wanderer, Abel.

“Oh? Is that so?”

Eto asked as he examined both.

“Yes. I’d only skimmed over it before, but when I saw this magic circle back in the village, it reminded me of the one on this arm.”

“I see. But didn’t you mention before that while it’s readable, it can’t operate on its own?”

“Exactly. But if it’s similar to the one on Abel’s machine, then perhaps we could combine it with the ancient control magic circle left in Abel’s cockpit.”

“You mean the one designed to mimic movements?”

Willem, entering the research lab from outside, reacted to Isamu’s explanation.

“Ah, Willem-san. Yes, that’s the one.”

“Perfect timing, then. We just brought Abel’s cockpit to the courtyard.”

Willem laughed heartily as he pointed out the window.

“Oh, thank you so much! Let’s conduct a full investigation on both. If it works, we might create something fascinating.”

“Something fascinating?”

“Yes. I mentioned this briefly before, but it could be a magic tool for long-distance communication,”

Isamu said with a grin.
